A Flying Priest Gets Lost

Rev Adelir Antonio de Carli from the Sao Cristovao parish in Brazil has gone missing after flying off in a chair tied to loads of party balloons filled with helium!

The daredevil priest took off from Paranagua, a city in Parana, Brazil on a journey to the city of Dourados which is located not far from his parish. The idea behind this huge adventure was for the priest to fly for over nineteen hours using the power of his party balloon chair to break the world record for the longest time someone has been in the air using helium filled party balloons and to also raise money a spiritual rest stop.

Unfortunately eight hours into his flight the forty one year old priest was hit by winds that decided his journey was not to Dourados and sent him in the wrong direction. The last the priest was heard from was when he radioed in to port as he was thirty miles off the coast line over the sea.

A big search is underway using helicopters and boats to find the elusive priest but it is believed he will be found alive and well as the Rev Adelir Antonio de Carli is fitted with a thermal suit and parachute along with the chair being bouyant so will float at sea. Oh not forgetting that this priest is a skydiving veteran!
